After my dad passed away on December 31st 2020, the phrase “when cardinals appear angels are near” kept running through my head. I kept thinking about it, and I could not remember if I ever even took the time to notice one of these red birds.
I wanted to see one cardinal and I wanted to see one immediately…
so I sat down and created 100 individual cardinal pictures.
Since then I see cardinals almost every day, and not just when I look at these drawings, but I am noticing actual cardinals all the time everywhere.
I now have cardinals tapping on my window saying good morning to me. Cardinals are flying in front of my car ushering me into the neighborhood. There have even been cardinals that followed me into a store guiding me to the art supplies.
And yes, other people can see these cardinals, too. They are really there.

These 100 individual cardinal drawings have become my most cherished possession.

Now, I put those 100 cardinal pictures into one 12x18 framed collage print with the goal of selling 100 of them.
In honor of my dad, I’m giving all the profits made from this piece to my mom.
